Fatal Texas Auto Accident Takes Life of Dallas Man

Texas auto accidents occur every day somewhere in the state, and the bottom line for anyone who drives or rides in a vehicle is that they can happen at any time and in any place.  Tragically, all it takes is one mistake to snuff out the life of an innocent person, and sadly that appears to be what occurred on Saturday afternoon in Aubrey, where a Dallas man was killed in a horrific wreck.

According to police, the fatal Texas auto accident occurred just before 2:45 p.m. in Aubrey at the intersection of FM720 and U.S. Highway 380.  George Reece, 50, of Dallas, was the man killed in the crash.  He was the passenger in a Chevrolet van headed north on FM720.  The driver of the van ran the red light at the intersection of FM720 and Highway 380, smashing into a Ford pickup truck.

The van rolled after the impact, and both people were ejected from the van, as neither was apparently wearing seat belts.  The van rolled for the final time and landed directly on top of Mr. Reece, killing him instantly.  The driver of the van was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, and the passenger in the pickup truck was also injured.  The driver of the pickup truck escaped uninjured.

First, we’d like to send our thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Reece.  This is simply a horrible way to die, and this tragedy will certainly hit those close to him hard.  Unfortunately, this latest incident will also add to the statistics regarding Texas auto accidents.  Every year, more than 400,000 Texas auto accidents take place, leading to almost 250,000 injuries and more than 3,000 fatalities.
